About Cambridge

The Cambridge AICE Diploma is made up of individual Cambridge International AS & A Levels, which are widely recognised by universities and employers around. Students can be confident that their qualifications will be understood and valued throughout their education and career, in their home country and internationally.

By demanding knowledge from three different subject groups, plus the core compulsory subject, Cambridge International AS Level Global Perspectives & Research, the Cambridge AICE Diploma provides a broad curriculum with a balance of maths and science, languages, arts and humanities, and interdisciplinary subjects. It maintains flexibility and choice by allowing students to choose subjects at different levels.

The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) is an international diploma that students can earn via an advanced academic curriculum and assessment program written and administered by a non-profit department (CIE) of the University of Cambridge in England.  The Cambridge AICE Diploma was first awarded in 1997 and has since become popular with a range of schools in different parts of the world. It offers students the opportunity to tailor their studies to their individual interests, abilities, and future plans within an international curriculum framework.  Earning an AICE Diploma provides students with college credit for their courses and qualifies them for the Florida Academic Bright Futures Scholarship. 

Lemon Bay High School and AICE

Lemon Bay High School introduced Cambridge courses through the AICE program four years ago.  Since then, the program has developed into 17 course offerings, and is now graduating students with the AICE Diploma.  In 2021, 10 students graduated with the AICE Diploma; in 2022, 22 students graduated with the AICE Diploma; in 2023, 80 students qualified for the AICE Diploma. Through this program, we are reaching students who never thought they would attend college.  

Cambridge offers students the opportunity to tailor their studies to their individual interests, abilities, and future plans within an international curriculum framework.  Earning the AICE Diploma provides students with college credit for their courses and qualifies them for the Florida Academic Bright Futures Scholarship. Today, we have over 400 students enrolled in at least one Cambridge class and over 100 students pursuing the AICE Diploma.  Many of those students are challenging themselves by completing both an AICE Diploma and AP Scholars recognition.  

All AICE teachers at Lemon Bay are trained by Cambridge International and have some of the highest pass rates in Charlotte County.

LBHS AICE courses and the AICE Diploma

In order to be on track toward completion of the AICE Diploma, you must complete seven AICE courses (completion of an AICE course includes sitting for the exam) and pass a minimum of seven exams with at least one course and exam being from each of the three subject areas and the Core listed below. Some courses require you to take a prerequisite course first.  Please meet with your guidance counselor to determine which courses require a prerequisite and to discuss summer assignments.
