    Good Evening Terrier Families!

This is Mr. Kunder with an important announcement regarding upcoming state testing .

Spring State testing kicks off next week with all students taking their Language Arts test on Tuesday, and their Math test on Wednesday. Please encourage all students to get a good night sleep, eat breakfast, and take their time. We know that all students are well prepared to show what they know and that just by doing their best PCMS will be well on our way to being the top performing Middle School in the district for the 6th straight year. Additionally, if Port Charlotte Middle School becomes an A school once again, we will start next school year with a celebration like this school year, but we will be upping the reward to have multiple dunk tanks, popcorn, snow cones, and grade level field day competitions and much more. I know that all students have done a tremendous job throughout the year and now it’s their time to show off their growth and accomplishments!

  • Afterschool Bus Information

    Good Evening, Terrier Families,

This is Mr. Kunder calling with an important announcement.

This year, Port Charlotte Middle School has decided to utilize the services of a late bus for PCMS-zoned students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school. We hope this will allow more students the opportunity to be part of our extracurricular activities and tutoring services. A permission form was sent home with your student on Thursday this week that outlines the rules for utilizing the late bus as well as the late bus stops. It is important to understand that while the late bus will service all PCMS zoned students, the bus stops will not be that of their normal bus transportation. If you plan to have your student utilize the late bus this year, please sign and have your student return the permission form to the main office. We hope this after-school transportation option will allow for more students to participate in school clubs and tutoring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.

I hope you found this announcement informative.

This is Mr. Kunder, Principal of Port Charlotte Middle School calling with a few important reminders.

First of all, on behalf of the entire PCMS staff, I want to thank all families for their role in getting students off to a great start to the school year. Students have come back to school with the right mindset to make this a great year.

As we continue into the year, please be reminded that students should wear their student ID’s at all times while on school grounds. Also, remember that morning supervision does not occur until 8:30, so please help your students with not arriving on campus until after 8:30 am.  When dropping off or picking your student up, please do not use the bus ramp or the area around the bus ramp on Alton Blvd, as this creates an unsafe situation for students around the buses.

I hope you found this announcement informative,

Thank you and have a nice evening.

  • Open House and First Day of School

Good Afternoon, Terrier Families!  This is Mr. Kunder, principal of Port Charlotte Middle School calling with important announcements regarding open house and the first student day of the school year.

The PCMS open house will take place tonight August 9th. Our doors will open at 5:15, which will give you plenty of time to locate your child’s first period teacher and look around campus. All student schedules will be with your child’s 1st period teacher. Our open house format will allow students and parents to follow the class schedule starting promptly with 1st period at 5:45. Each class period will last around 5 minutes and will allow our teachers time to share important information about the class.

In preparation for open house, student schedules have now been released on Focus for all students and parents.

Please check out our website for more details regarding open house.

Additionally, here’s some information that will help get your child started for the first day of school on Thursday. If you’re dropping off your child please use the entrance gate on Orlando Blvd and follow the road to the patio side of our school. Students will wait there until the first bell rings at 8:50. Bikers and walkers will use the Midway pedestrian gate to enter campus, which will open at 8:30. Supervision of students begin at 8:30 so students should not arrive before that. School breakfast begins at 8:30 and ends at 9:01. The warning bell is at 9:06 so students should be in 1st period ready to learn by 9:06.

If you are picking your child up from school use the entrance gate on Orlando Blvd. 6th and 7th grade students will be picked up on the patio side of school and 8th graders will be picked up at the front school like last year. Please be patient the first couple of weeks while parents and students get used to the parent pick up procedures. The line will be very long. Also, for your child’s safety please use our parent line instead of picking them up on the side of the road around our campus. Remember, the dismissal bell rings at 4:10.

We’re looking forward to a great year with your child.

I hope you found this announcement helpful and we look forward to seeing everyone this evening.

    2022-11-22

Good evening, Terrier families, this is Mr. Kunder with an important announcement regarding Port Charlotte Middle School.

It has been determined that necessary roof repairs for Port Charlotte Middle School are required to begin on Monday, November 28th. As a result, we will be returning to virtual instruction starting Monday, November 28 while the repairs to the roof are being made.  These repairs are expected to be completed and allow for students and staff to return to campus on January 4, if not sooner.

During this virtual school period, student instruction will be delivered using the district's provided iPads with T-Mobile internet that were distributed after hurricane Ian.  I recognize this information comes as a shock and presents obstacles for our students and families in the weeks ahead.  Please know that PCMS and its entire staff remain committed to providing our students with high quality instruction regardless of the barriers put in front of us.

I will be back in touch with an additional parent call on Friday, November 25, with more logistical information for the upcoming weeks.  I appreciate your understanding and wish all of our families a relaxing Thanksgiving break.

Good Evening Terrier Families, this is Mr. Kunder calling with information on the return to campus.

First, I want to say thank you to all parents for their understanding and support since Hurricane Ian hit our area. It has been clear to me since day 1 that the Terrier families have been on the same team with our teachers in helping all students to get through this period of virtual instruction. We look forward to transitioning to the next phase of our recovery as we welcome students back to campus on Tuesday.

When students return to school, please have them leave their iPads at home as an additional home resource. We will have a plan to recollect iPads near the end of the semester, but want to make sure students can use these devices from home to catch up on assignments without having them break during the transition to and from school.

All previous plans that were in place at Port Charlotte Middle School prior to the storm will be back in place for students and parents as we return. Parent drop off and pick up times and locations as well as walker and biker crosswalks and entry areas remain the same.

After school clubs and activities will start back up beginning Wednesday.

Again, thank you for your patience and I look forward to seeing all of our students back at school on Tuesday morning.

Thank you and have a nice evening.
