WHAT WILL I DO IN MY JOB AS AN AVIATION MECHANIC?

Your job as an aviation mechanic couldn’t be more important. Pilots may fly the planes, but aviation mechanics make flight possible keeping aircraft safe and ready to fly through regular servicing, overhaul, maintenance and repair (including emergency repair under tight deadlines) and periodic inspection. You are the key to keeping the aviation industry running safely and on time.

During your training, you will learn to maintain all types of aircraft, including single- and multi-engine airplanes and helicopters. Your skills will open a great future.
WHAT DOES AN A&P MECHANIC DO?
An A&P (Airframe and Power Plant) mechanic is a certified mechanic who is responsible for the airframe, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems for the entire aircraft including engine and the propeller.
- Airframe covers electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel and structure.
- Power Plant covers the propeller and engine.

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN CTC’S AVIATION MECHANICS PROGRAM?

Students who enroll in this program have already completed Aviation Assembly and Fabrication, and must be at least a high school senior. In this training you will explore career opportunities and study basic electricity, aircraft drawing, weight, balance, fluid lines, fittings, materials, processes, operations, services, cleaning, corrosion-control, math, forms, records, basic physics, maintenance publication, communication, and employability skills.
WHAT INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
- FEDAA002 General and Airframe Certification (available to take after completion of 1350 hours)
- NCATT003 – Aerospace/Aircraft Assembly
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO ENROLL?
Student Qualifications:
- No referrals
- Student must be at least a senior
- Student must have a 2.5 GPA
- Student must have passed the FSA and Algebra 1 EOC
- Student must be on track for high school graduation.
- Students must submit a dual enrollment application
