Diagnostic Assessment of Reading - reading assessment used at the intermediate level of elementary schools to determine a child's reading strengths and weaknesses.

Developmentally Delayed

Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills - reading assessment used at the primary level in elementary schools to determine a child's reading strengths and weaknesses.

Extended School Year

Functional Behavioral Assessment. This is done when a student is not responding to teacher interventions in the classroom to help remediate behavioral problems. It is data gathered by trained personnel to determine environmental factors that are triggering and maintaining problem behaviors. This data is used when developing a Behavior Intervention Plan.

Free, Reduced Lunch

Full-Time Equivalent- student count, used by state officials to determine how much money is allocated to school districts from the legislature.

Grade Level Expectations – expectations that are expected in the Sunshine State Standards.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (formerly Education of Handicapped Act (EHA) 94-142.

Individual Education Plan- a required school plan for all children receiving special education or ESE services.

A meeting held at least once each school year to make decisions about changes in the IEP and review the student’s placement.

Program where children with special needs are placed in regular classroom and receive assistance from a regular ed. and ESE teacher.

Student Success Plan- a plan that includes strategies for improving student performance, how and when improvements will be implemented, etc.

School Resource Officer

Sunshine State Standards – standards set by state that are the criteria for FCAT.

A federally-funded program designed to improve achievement at schools with a high percentage of students eligible for free and reduced priced lunches. 

Teacher Support Team- helps the teacher look at a student's assessment data to see if interventions have been effective.
