    Charlotte County Public School offers 4 paid School Psychology Internship positions for students enrolled in school psychology programs. The program is designed to meet the Best Practice Guidelines for School Psychology Internships as outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists. Interns are required to pass a drug screening and background check. Interns are provided with: a school district identification badge, laptop, and the necessary testing equipment needed to begin their internship. The internship requirement is one academic year of full-time work (5 days a week, 8 1/2-hour workdays, 30-minute unpaid lunch included). The program provides interns experiences with students across pre-k to 12th grade. All internship sites are school-based in which interns work with multiple school psychologists in varying settings. Settings include elementary and secondary schools, preschool, and programs for students with severe emotional difficulties or intellectual disabilities. 

    Interns are provided a variety of experiences with various student populations. During the internship, interns will participate in the following learning experiences with support: 

     Testing and Evaluations 

    • Comprehensive Evaluations
    • Report Writing 
    • Crisis Counseling (when applicable)
    • Small-Group Counseling
    • Pre-k Evaluations and Training
    • In-Service Training
    • Consultation
    • Data Analysis and Response to Intervention
    • Behavior Interventions 
    • Collaborative Problem Solving
    • Threat and Risk Assessments
    • Monthly Professional Development

    All interns will attend an orientation meeting during the teacher’s pre-planning week. Topics to be addressed during orientation include, but are not limited to: internship program components, school and supervisor assignments, important dates, and office procedures. 

     Rotations

    Interns will begin the school year reporting daily to their supervisors and working within their assigned school site. During the fall, interns will begin 4 (1 week) rotations at different schools, with different psychologists, including pre-k experience. Interns will receive the opportunity to complete a variety of cases at the elementary and secondary level. 

     Professional Development

    Mandatory monthly professional development opportunities will be provided to enhance interns' experience and knowledge. Professional development topics include ESE procedures and SP&P, MTSS/RtI, Report Writing, Counseling, Bilingual Evaluations, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Emotional Behavioral Disability (EBD).

     Stipend

    Interns will receive a stipend pay of up to $29,300 (for the full 204-day work calendar).

     Application Procedures

    Charlotte County’s internship procedures follow FASP guidelines. 

     Application Deadline: Prospective interns must submit applications no later than January 31st 

    Interview Deadline: District representatives interview prospective interns January 1st - February 28th. 

    Call Day: Supervisors of Psychological Services (or their designees) will offer positions to prospective interns via telephone no earlier than 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, March 1st. Students who have been offered an internship slot have until 10:00 a.m. on March 1st to notify the district(s) of their decision to accept or to decline an offer. If a student fails to notify the district of his or her decision by this time, he or she will forfeit the offer. 

    Students interested in the internship program must submit an online  on the 青青草视频 website.  In addition to the online application, interested applicants will be required to submit the following.
