  • FDLRS Child Find, in coordination with the school districts, locates children who are potentially eligible for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and links them with needed services.

The Role of Child Find

    • Helps to promote general public awareness of services available for children and youth who have or are at risk of developing disabilities.
    • Assists in locating, identifying, and obtaining services for children who have or are at risk of developing disabilities
    • Screens children and youth to determine if they need to be formally evaluated.
    • Services preschool children 3-5 years of age (who have not yet entered Kindergarten in the public school setting) and Private school children ages 5-18 years old.

    If you have concerns about a child's speaking, understanding, moving or playing, seeing, hearing, getting along with other children, learning or self-help skills, Child Find provides developmental screenings FREE OF CHARGE in the areas of communication, motor development, vision, hearing, and preschool readiness skills.
